Why are svg files not made smaller using scour?

I'm just beginning to learn about svg and I feel that the svg files in
/usr/share/icons/lubuntu could be made smaller by using python-scour. I've
"scoured" a few and seen that the file sizes drop appreciably. Is there a
reason for not using python-scour? It is listed in Synaptic (Lubuntu 12.10).
