Hi Sam,
You forgot to hit "Reply All" ;)
We had such discussion on the mailing list, Ubuntu Forum and I'm sure on
IRC as well. Two major points that we need to consider before anything else:
A- Lubuntu is meant for Old Machines MORE than anything else and Lubuntu
Default Applications MUST remain as light as possible.
B- Changing the current default application is a long process and must be
done very carefully.
We already discussed that many times :)
Above all, as long as Lubuntu is using the same base and repositories of
Ubuntu then it is UP TO the users to install whatever they like and prefer
to use. With Linux, there is nothing called "you have to use this and stick
to that". Also, it is impossible to please everyone.
Sorry if the current default list of applications don't really meet your
needs but think about how great Lubuntu is and how fast and stable. It's
few steps away to install whatever you like :)
Now, with 12.04, you have yet another way to install any application using
Lubuntu Software Center.
Thanks!
