Suggested Games

All:

Having a number of slower, less-capable computers in my arsenal, I
recognize the value of Lubuntu for keeping those machines useful for
years to come. I really appreciate the contribution if Lubuntu in that
regard. Xubuntu wasn't all that much better than Ubuntu.

But I don't just use Lubuntu on my older, slower machines.

I like how fast it runs - visibly faster than Ubuntu, and how it doesn't
use up memory so fast, leaving me room to to have the 150 megabyte
soundfont loaded into my soundcard, but also run (at the same time)
Qsynth (a software synthesizer) using that same massive (quality)
soundfont.

And I can also run my Java development environment at the same time,
testing my MIDI creations.

The other reason I use Lubuntu on my main machine, is I have my own
color scheme I like to use, and on Ubuntu, even though they finally
(grudgingly) allowed color customization, it is an overly complex task,
and many of the main applications I need to use, totally ignore my color
customization (at least they did on Ubuntu 11.10).

The final reason I use Lubuntu, is that every time I use the Unity
desktop, I am reminded of a different reason why I don't like it.

Kubuntu (which I had abandoned earlier for being so slow and using so
much memory) seems to have improved a lot in the 12.04 release. But
color customization on it is a much more complex task than it used to be
(and how simple it still is on Lubuntu).

The only thing I really miss from Kubuntu is the Photo-Frame
(Picture-Frame) widget, which can live in an unused area of the screen,
with the pleasant pictures of my life flashing by, bringing back fond
memories.
