It's nagging at me becuase i left a few steps out.

At the terminal the lxdm install has you go though an ncurses
configuration tool.

Also I think the blank screen appears at every boot,  even with the workaround

3rd, the bug is worse since the mouse pointer is not shown on the
blank screen, and don't expect users to be able to click on the window
to press alt-L with an invisible mouse pointer.
