No WiFi on Acer Aspire One, how to get it to detect it?

Yes, that's there already (as one would expect).

This is the next problem, I can run Network Manager but all the options
to actually do anything are greyed out, it's as if I need root
privileges but can't get them.  Should it pop-up a window asking for su
password, it doesn't.
