New music player proposal? I think the main problem concerns the    media player rather than the audio player!!

All:

In the past, VLC hasn't reliably worked with the Jack Audio Connection
Kit, but it currently does work with it.

I like VLC, and would use it. It allows me to easily access my
directory structure of music files.

Video-wise, it seems to get the colors right (or can be configured to do
so), which the default movie player in Lubuntu currently does not
(images are overly bright, and overly color saturated).

For audio, I still prefer Audacious. It seems a bit resource-intensive
to use a video player when you're strictly playing audio.
