<div dir="ltr"><div>Wxl:</div><div><br></div><div>So I did post to the #3 linked thread, which is a new Ubuntu forum? Had to make a "new" account, and I was in a rush, so I just typed out my issues, but I guess it wasn't specific enough, I assumed that since the thread was entitled "Testing Chromium-browser in transition from .deb to snap" that I wouldn't have to repeat that data . . . . But I guess one of the mods "Ian" took it that I was "hijacking the thread" AND on top of that I was "being passive-aggressive" . . . so he moved my post and started another thread where I would be "asking for help" and hopefully I would ask "more nicely"???? I tried to like a "guiverc" post while I was there . . . .<br></div><div><br></div><div>This is why I moved away from the ubuntu forums, going back to the PPC days, when I would take my time to try to explain something that had been repeated over and over again, and some mod sitting in a coffee shop somewhere would put my post in "jail" and or remind me that, "our audience includes toddlers so speak in a way that toddlers can understand, plz." PITA and so forth to deal with these mods, folks who could actually post to the thread with help, but don't, they just police those who do try . . . just a big time suck.</div><div><br></div><div>So I think I just did an update in a Manjaro install on another computer and I saw "snap" or "snapd" in the list, so it looks like linux is going to be totally "infected" with this "sandbox" . . . and if I want to "open files" . . . it won't happen in linux??? Can't believe that in order to do that basic function I'll have to revert to OSX?????</div><div><br></div><div>That's the latest, just letting you that I tried to add my $.02 . . . and it was rejected as Off-topic and apparently "unpleasantly presented to the devs" . . . . I did flip over to the bug report you linked to , but so far no time to play over there . . . .<br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div> </div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"> Usually it's equivalent to $HOME/Downloads but since<br>
you're using the Snap (which is the only way it will be, it seems), all<br>
of the working directories are sandboxed.<br>

This is not only a [known bug][1] but it seems like one that has [little<br>
hope of being fixed][2].<br>
<br>
This, and lots of other things were brought up in a thread on the Ubuntu<br>
Discourse regarding [the transition from Debian package to Snap<br>
package][3] in Chromium. You might want to lend your comments there,<br>
too.<br>

Regarding your ultimate issue, you [can change your User Agent on<br>
