For point 1 - possibly the problem you had was a problem reported via

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1794922

where the plymouth screen (graphics lubuntu dots) showed nothing
wrong, but switching to text terminal showed repeated errors.  If
you'd like to re-test your boot you can confirm, and add yourself to
the bug  (almost identical issue occurs on xubuntu x86 (1795092).   My
last test on that; oct 5-8 was flawed; in error I wrote x86_64 iso to
thumb-drive & only noticed it wasn't x86 ~4 days back [note oct-8
entry has x86_64 not i686]).  If you do, please let me know if it
applies; it may nudge me to re-do the [flawed] testing :)
