Hi Martyn,

Got this help from the lubuntu-devel e-mail mailing list...















*    It may sound silly but this might help you.    From what I read it can
be a hardware failure, but it can also be something else.    The power
management system might have gone haywire.    To reset this is easy.
Remove the power    Remove the battery    Press the on button for 30
seconds, so all power is really drained out.    Put the battery back    Put
the power back    Try to switch on.    If that doesn't work there is really
something broken.*
