So usually I use this repo to do my installs
https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/lubuntu-daily
But as expected for a dev daily build it can break. So for more
comfort I went to the wiki :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/LXQt
Witch has a nice easy to read howto . I upgraded to 16.04 a VM build
off the ubuntu 15.10 mini iso and lxqt build from the lubuntu daily.
And I had to do a fresh install of 16.04 with lxqt for lenovo w500
laptop.
Both install had missing dependencies for the lxqt-config-monitor.
complaining about missing kscreen. After some investigation they were
missing. libkf5screen6 and/or libkf5screen-dev and/or
libkf5screen-bin.
After that I had a lot of issue using lxqt-config-monitor with
multiple monitors. It look like it misbehaved like it used to months
ago where it wasn't saving configs, couldn't handle properly multiple
monitors etc...So I decided to update and reinstall everything from
the daily build, and everything went back to normal.
Other issues:
This meta install more gtk apps,Like it was couple of years ago at the
beginning of the project where Qt alternatives were not that great.
But it has changed since. Look at this page for the Manjaro lxqt
distribution : https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title=List_of_Qt_Applications.
For the graphical editor, is Vim in a Qterminal the most friendly
option ? Juffed is in the daily and it is pretty solid.
Could sddm be also the default Display manager like it is in the daily ?
Basically could this "stable" Meta be more close than it's upstream source ?
Any thought ?
Thanks.
