[lubuntu-devel] [Very high priority, needs action very soon] Abiword for the release of Lubuntu Xenial

Walter and Julien,

Abiword is the word processor we have selected for Lubuntu.
Unfortunately, there are currently 71 different bugs reported in
Launchpad[1] and 20 bugs in the Debian bug tracker[2]. Abiword is also
orphaned[3] in Debian. Next week the release candidates land for Lubuntu
Xenial and I'm concerned that if we ship with Abiword, we will get a
very bad reputation in the Linux community and more importantly, an
unstable word processor will ship to our users.

To support this, for the next few hours I will get a daily image of
Lubuntu Xenial and a Debian Sid install and I will work to confirm all
the supported bugs.

In the meantime, you may or may not be online, but something needs to be
done about this. I would support removing Abiword from the Lubuntu image
altogether. So unless someone magically adopts Abiword in Debian and
fixes all the bugs in time, which I don't see happening, if I were you,
I would consider removing Abiword.

Thank you for your time, and I will send a follow-up email soon
confirming these bugs.

(lubuntu-devel list, I'll update my progress on #lubuntu-devel as I go
along if you feel inclined to lend a hand)
