Unfortunately, most DSL/cable ISPs in Europe (and I assume also the US?)
have "hamstered" enough IPv4 addresses for the next 5 years or so, which
means most of them aren't in a hurry yet...   :-(

IMO the easiest way to get IPv6 access when your ISP doesn't provide it
natively is the Teredo protocol.  There is no need to register an
account (as with SixXS & such), just install the tunnel software and go;
on Ubuntu you can use it by installing the 'miredo' package[1].

BTW: the Firefox package in Ubuntu disables IPv6 by default to work
around bugs in many home gateways (routers).  You might want to
re-enable it when you get an IPv6 tunnel...
