What's a cycle ? If last year, I'd say it's less activity. Release
parties are not such a novelty anymore and most regular events are now
Ubuntu Hours, which have increased both in # of locations and frequency.

People that joing do so only when specifically directed. It's still
difficult to join for anyone not speaking English. Most members end up
expiring unless automatically renewed or actively reminded to renew.

1 year, automatic expiry (no external rules to renew)
