Most of the discs ubuntu-be distributes are CD-Rs we burn ourselves, as
in the past asking for the real amount of discs we needed was never
approved.
We also have an urn for contributions[*] at most events, which in many
but not all places provides us with enough money to pay for the booth &
CD-Rs (occasionally we get up to twice the booth cost in gifts!).
Don't worry too much about discs "looking professional", but rather
emphasize that it's legal to copy Ubuntu unlimitedly--distributing CD-Rs
sort of proves your point on that.
[*] visitor: "Can we get a free CD?" - we: "Yes, but of course we always
appreciate contributions to our costs" - don't be surprised if some
people donate up to 5, 10 or even 20 €. So: *Don't be shy to ask for
gifts!*
