A long long time ago... way back before I knew of the LD project...
I had some people request a LoCo map. Not that this hadn't been
attempted before. This was back where I was trying to figure out how I
could fetch and parse the Ubuntu Wiki.
I enlisted a few great people to help and one brilliant person
(doctormo) did some outstanding work. The project died a little until
the LoCo Directory came out public and gave us a very useful tool (XML
Data).
I talked very shortly with dholbach. He told me that the 0.1.0 release
is for team data; 0.2.0 is for events data; and a map might exist for
0.3.0. Considering this release is likely a ways off I feel a certain
obligation to see finished what was started so long ago.
Here's what Martin Owens provided for us this far. [1] and [2]
Obviously you need javascript enabled.
We have XML data for all this output as well.
We have a few developers interested in continuing this project. Because
there will be more than one or two people working on this now, I'd like
to get opinions about specifications. This will allow us to have all
the features there the first time around.
I intend to develop this as it will be used in a Drupal module. However
Martin has developed what exists this far as a self-contained tool.
When possible; this approach will be held to. When we're done with
this; we will be able to export any pieces from PHP to Python or
anything else as the code here will be very minimal.
What I really need your help with is making sure any features you'd
like to see are well documented as requirements/specifications. The
specs we currently have are on the Ubuntu Wiki [1]. Please only add
something to the end of the page so nothing turns into a mess.
