Instead of circumventing the trademark policy with something like
above I suggest working with it. Even if it means altering what you
need to do. I have no comments on the specific points in the original
post since they are questions I've not heard answers to in the past.

Definitely try trademarks@ again, it's heavily spam filtered since
it's published to the web and gets a ton of junk.
