Subject: LoCo Open Day

Hi all,

We had a good and productive meeting yesterday, and many points were
discussed. One particularly interesting idea was a LoCo Open Day. This
would be a day in which all LoCo teams have activities and sessions to
encourage new members and also inspire existing members to do things.

This could include:

 * Physical meetings.
 * IRC tutorials, talks and sessions.
 * Charity fundraising activities.
 * Translations / documentation sprints.
 * ...etc...

The idea is that the LoCo Open Day is a day in which you show off your
LoCo team and encourage more people to get involved.

To ensure this project kicks off correctly, I am looking to assemble a
board of volunteers to help organise the project. Melissa Draper has
already volunteered, but if anyone else wants to get in touch, please
respond to this email. We are particularly looking for volunteers to
help with:

 * Art / Marketing materials.
 * Helping LoCo teams to organise their events for the Open Day. This is
particularly important.
 * Documentation writers to help document what happens on the day.

The general idea is that the Open Day is a day when the entire LoCo
project shines and we can show off our awesome teams.

No date is set yet for the Open Day, and the plan is to first build a
board of volunteers who can help get the wheels moving and then we all
decide on a date. To be clear, this board of volunteers is not there to
tell your LoCo what to do, they are just interested volunteers who have
the time and interest to help with the Open Day project. This way we
have a collection of volunteers who can help make this happen. :)
