Yes, swap needs to be the same or slightly larger than RAM for
suspend-to-disk (hibernation). Sometimes 2 x RAM is recommended if swap is

Here is a howto for suspending to a swap file instead of a partition (last
half of post):

if you don't feel like fooling with your partition sizes. Caveat: I've not
followed these instructions.
