help to test laptop

Hi!
I've had Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) installed for a month or so on
my Dell laptop, and I've just now created a page on the wiki
for this model, which was missing from the list:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/DellXPSM1210
Now, I'm a experienced Unix user/admin, but most of my
experience has been with FreeBSD ... I can get around most
issues in Debian/Ubuntu easily enough, but I've never had to
deal with low level issues, like drivers, compiling a new
kernel (something I do regularly on FreeBSD), etc.
This is just to say that I'd love to be able to fix the
things that are not working for me, and that given a clue
about the direction I should take (or where to read) I can
take it from there (I have yet to adapt to the more specific
linux jargon/idiosincracies).
This messages is thus meant to
i) say hi to you all :)
ii) ask for you to review my post to the wiki
iii) ask you for help to test a few things
a. how can I capture keycodes so I can better
describe keys that are not being mapped or are not
working?
b. the solution to any of the things that are not
working (or that I didn't knew how to make work):
wireless NIC
card reader
webcam (video)
Thanks!
Fernan
