It seems you are trying to build (compile) komposer ?
As Charles said discompress it. After you will have a repertory
with few files like configure, in a console (bash sh shell) you go
to komposer directory where the the configure file is...
But before if you are on ubuntu you should test if you have all
library to compile composer :
so write at command line
sudo apt-get build-dep komposer and enter (if it's in ubuntu
package)
all dependancies will install
then in komposer directory do ./configure --prefix=/usr (on
ubuntu) it will install it for you to be able to run it.
then make
and third
sudo make install
If you are fed up with this programm you can clean it and clear,
delete it properly with
sudo make uninstall
I means you use komposer sources.
Otherwise on ubuntu /kubuntu
sudo apt-get install komposer (if it' s in repository !)

Good evening
I am trying to install "KompoZer" on kubuntu (also on xubuntu / Mint)
but cannot make it work.
Could anybody please instruct me how to "install" (somewhere on the net
is says, these files are not "installed) the software?
Kubuntu 14.014, 64-bit
* downloaded most recent package (kompozer-08b3 en-US)
* unpacked the file and now have a folder named "kompozer"
* according to the "instructions" I found on the net, I am supposed to:
use the command |cd| to navigate to the correct folder. If there is a
README file with installation instructions, use that instead.
-> There is/are not such file(s)
1.
|./configure|
2. |make|
3. |sudo make install|
-> WHERE am I supposed to do that? It does neither work IN the
"kompozer" folder nor from the home folder.
When I try:
sudo apt-get install kompozer-0.8b3.en-US.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz

I recommend that you uncompress the
file"Kompozer-0.8b3.en-US.gcc4.2-i686.tar.gz" to a directory using ARK
or some file decompressor for ".tar.gz"
Enter that directory and whatever directory the Kompozer files are
located in and start from there. You may need to read the README file
that is normally included.
Since this is a compressed file, you cannot "./configure" or "make" it
as is. You MUST decompress it first.

I get the message, there is no such package.
Under Windows I install the same program by clicking on the downloaded
file and wait for the installation to end.
That is user friendly.
Is there no way under Linux to accomplish the same task at least A
LITTLE BIT more easily?
(right now I have been toiling for hours and am not getting anywhere ...)
Thank you
Thomas
