It uses the plasma 5 desktop, which I wouldn't mind, except that
my entire desktop settings (icons, widgets, etc) are gone. Now
I'm all for change, but making me start over with a desktop is
not going to set well with a lot of people I think.

Am I missing something here? It's probably something stupid
like opening some secret window where all the settings will
be... but for the moment it looks like I am a new user, without
anything on the desktop.

Not a happy camper.

I'm not one for clutter on my desktop but according to the video
on Youtube, linked from KDE, you click on the little box in the
upper right and you can have all the dodadds, whatchamacallits,
thingamabobs, bells and whistles you want.

through all of the glitter and crap.... Have been able to get
virtual desktops back and trying to learn how to switch between
them.... and all the rest of the "learning curve" with this
stuff. As one person said in a comment: "It's ok but still
not as good as Windows 10"... which means it's not good at all.
Now, if I can just get some developer to come to my house and
convince my wife that she should relearn everything she knows
about KDE (not much) and drag her kicking and screaming into
Plasma... all will be fine.. :-)
