See man synaptic <br><br>An error like that usually means you are trying to open a graphical application remotely or as a different user and you don't have permission to open the display.  In this case your display is :0.0.<br>

a better way to fix this?<br></blockquote><div><br>What were you doing when the message occurred?<br><br>If it is just an error message and it isn't causing any real problems just ignore it.  <br><br>If you were trying to open synaptic remotely with ssh try adding ssh -X hostname.  Or better yet use apt-get or aptitude to update the machine.<br>
