I installed Ubuntu 9.10 and had Kubuntu as a second session. Now it shows
KDE in the se3ssion choices but goes back to the login window and will not
open Kubuntu. I did notice that if I filled in the missing "en" in
.kde/share/config/startupconfigfiles that Kubuntu will install, but that is
a one time thing. Even though I save the change in the above mentioned files
the file will go back to missing "en" See example
"kdeglobals Locale Language 'en' # trigger requesting languages from KLocale
/home/dick/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals"
Thanks for any help.

You could try to move your ~/.kde to .kde.org and log in again and KDE
will recreate all setting files. This has happened to me a few times
and it looks to be related to upgrades of KDE. You could also look in
~/.xsession-errors from a console for any clues after a failed login.

This is the error file I get when I try to install and open Kubuntu.
