I did a clean install on a spare disk and copied over the .kde hierarchy so that I could at least run Knode to send this message. After googling, I conclude that no one else has experienced the same problem with the upgrade. Nevertheless, I wonder whether anyone has any suggestions how to fix the problem in the upgraded system.
