Larry </pre> </blockquote> It dos not matter if it is a laptop or not. the ntpd daemon will connect as it can to insure that the computer time is always updated. I would do the remove of ntpdate and install ntp. That should really be all that you need to do. The ntp.conf file already has an entry in it for ubuntu's time server.
