I used "ignorance", not "ignorant." Ignorance is the "lack of knowledge or
information". That exactly describes bmarsh. To wit, "I'm calling it a
server... [I] never mentioned downloading a server package." So he claims
he doesn't know the difference between a desktop system and a server
system, though he has been using Linux for over 30 years: "I've only been
running Linux since 1992 so maybe I don't have the knowledge."
The distinction between a desktop system and a server system was important.
A server system only boots to Multiuser in Systemd, while a desktop system
boots to Graphical in Systemd. Since the system was sleeping on a server,
it indicates non-trivial changes were made to the server's configuration.
Knowledge of the configuration changes would have helped isolate the
problem, and which component was causing the problem.
Now, there's no way to win an argument when the other person lacks the
knowledge to engage in the argument. Hence, "I can't argue with ignorance..."
The actual phrase is "you can't argue with ignorance". It's a common phrase
in the US. My apologies if your are not from the US.
Another common phrase in the US is "I don't suffer fools, gladly." I felt
obliged to explain to Little Girl since she took the time to reply to me,
and had a misunderstanding of my frame of mind. Otherwise, it would not
have made it to the list.
I'll settle for it being constructive if you can provide a decent answer

I really like GenZ at times. Does anyone need to prove anything to you?

Again, agreed. This message is another example.

You and Little Girl had the opportunity to take this offlist. You and
Little Girl picked the venue for the reply. Please don't get your feathers
ruffled because I replied in the same manner and mode you selected.
