Suspend again

Well, you might be right but it has always worked for, say, the last 12 years... plus I like to be able to use some of the Kubuntu utilities... So have you installed Kubuntu straight without the suspend problem? Xfce did introduce light-locker utility which messes with hibernation but I've checked on that and locking is turned off.

Might be some weird interaction between KDE components and XFCE. Might be worth installing xubuntu (XFCE version of Ubuntu) as opposed to wrangling XFCE onto Kubuntu.

My server went into suspend... and although my server is for my
personal use, I don't think suspend will go over too well in a
large organization! I _thought_ servers don't have a graphical component. Where did you find a KDE server download?
I know how to turn off suspend but it involves incantations at the
command line, which I don't mind doing, but as a general rule,
linux users shouldn't have to deal with.
Not sure how to report this... since ubuntu-bug says it can't be
reported since there is no package installed for it. --
