24.04 Kubuntu problems

Appreciate the suggestion but having done two things to fix the issue, the system is now operating like it should and always has. The hibernation issue is a biggie and it should not have been turned on. The light-locker issue caused two problems.  1) it required a new login after every display blanking.  I could have lived with that but there should be a way to turn off the locking. 2). And this was something that almost caused me to abandoned the beta..  the system was suspending or hibernation at display blanking, causing any background operation to suspend.   Killing light- locker fixed both problems.

I'm going to climb way out on a limb here and suggest that maybe the
default Kubuntu behavior of restoring the previous session on boot-up
is keeping the issue in place. It's worth a try to adjust the setting
 to start fresh every time:
Settings --> System Settings --> Workspace --> Startup and Shutdown
--> Desktop Session (in the second left pane) --> On Login (in the
right pane) --> Start with an empty session
