Sure it is new and installing Xfce as an additional desktop is valid. What I meant to say is that it is just not a problem generated by Kubuntu itself. So others reading this list could conclude that installing Xfce on top of Kubuntu might lead to the unexpected behaviour. Fortunately you already posted the remedy (killing light-locker).
