upgrading to 22.04 kills firefox

one of my first tries.

get a failure from knosole that it cannot access the internet to get it??
it is a hard wired link to router, as is this laptop going thru same 
router and modem.

dern thing had to have internet access just to install all the packages 
etc that were part of the install.

bitorent "appears" to be only thing that can get to internet and I am not 
comfortable using bitorent.

a search can't find snap or firefox. never run into this before
