Hi Michael
I'm guessing a bit here, but if you take a look at /etc/passwd and see if
your user has an ID 1000.
Then ls -alh on the files in the mounted 1TB disc, check that it recognises
them as belonging to you.
My guess is that it's a mismatched userID
