Please elaborate. If you write "login screen", I suppose you mean the place where you can select the user and enter the password (i.e. the sddm screen). But I don't see a progress bar before that screen appears. Or do you perhaps mean you can enter your password and then it stops at 56% of the progress bar before your desktop whould show up? How long did you wait until you decided that something is wrong? And did it happen again after a reboot? > I reinstalled the distro, and after a couple of weeks, it happened > again. Well, in single mode the GUI doesn't start (AFAIK) and therefore you may not see the problem, at least if it is related to the GUI. Anyway, you could have a look at the logfiles in "/var/log/" - maybe you find a clue there. Furthermore, do you have the desktop configured to restore the previous session (that's the default IIRC)? Then there might be a problem starting a particular application. Indeed it looks like a dbus problem with kwin, but I have no idea what to do about it. Nils From mdhirsch at gmail.com Sun Jan 29 20:43:32 2017 From: mdhirsch at gmail.com (Michael Hirsch) Date: Sun, 29 Jan 2017 13:43:32 -0700 Subject: kmail can't send to group Message-ID: Somehow my kmail has lost the ability to send to a group. I created a group in my address book named "parents" with my parents' email addresses in it. Then, when I compose a new mail and address it to "parents" I am unable to send the email. Kmail puts up an error dialoge saying: parents at doggie The email address you entered is not valid because it does not contain a '.'. You will not create valid messages if you do not change your address. My computer is named "doggie" which is where that must be coming from, but I would have expected the email to go out to my parents. My dad is having the same problem, so it is not unique to my machine. My guess is that I'm missing a configuration option allowing me to send to groups, but I can't find it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Michael
