What size does a SWAP need at a modern 500 GB SSD at a 32 bit laptop with 4 GB RAM?

I would google for Linux setup of a SSD.  There are some things to consider but one thing mentioned is to leave 10% UNALLOCATED but no more than 10gb.  The drive can't use the space to optimize things.
