kwallet not working

I reinstalled Kubuntu 16.04.

With a default created user of course.

First thing that happens is that it presents me with opening a wallet 
the moment some program like Chromium-browser starts. But my user 
password doesn't work on it. I delete the wallet and create a new one 
with an empty password. That used to work. But now it doesn't. Maybe 
because I have chosen blowfish, I don't know.

What is the procedure of actually getting this working? It won't accept 
my empty password, saying a read error, when I try to open the wallet.

Also it always seems to be the Kwallet Migration Assistant or something 
popping up? What for? It drives me crazy.
