I would recommend F3 to check the SD for defects and size verification.
You can install using APT-GET or it may be available in the Muon
repository.  Keep in mind that the f3write will erase anything and
everything on the SD card.  The other utility is f3read, use the man
pages to work out how to use it effectively for your purposes.
