I am evaluating kubuntu14.04 in virtual box on my Ubuntu 12.04 system. I
came across an editor called atom and decided this would be a good place
to test it. Following the instructions on the atom website produced the
following errors:

jfb at Kubuntu14-04:~/Downloads$ sudo dpkg -i atom-amd64.deb
Selecting previously unselected package atom.
(Reading database ... 201246 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack atom-amd64.deb ...

I searched Muon but found none of the packages I needed. I haven't been
trying out kubuntu for that long so I don't know the best way to proceed.

Thanks, Jim
