dashboard ?

I think some one had a nightmare one night and decided it was a good 
idea. *<]:oD


First thing I do when I install is click the close and it goes away. 
Reboots doesn't seem to bring it back so I can't believe it's an 
important part of the system. But, then I don't like a lot of junk on 
the desktop. I put the most important things on a Quick Launch and the 
rest is on the Launcher menu.
