Cannot get Canon Pixma MX432 scanner program to install in Kubuntu 14.04.2

I can use the printer on my system  but I cannot use the scanner the control program "scangearmp" will not install when when I run the install.sh script. I even tried to run the .deb file manually and got an error about unmet dependences. Does anyone have any recent information on how to get this thing to work? maybe newer drivers?
