Cannot change printer settings without root access

First select the "printers" tab and click on the name of your printer. 
There you have two selection bars where you can select options. One is 
labeled "maintenance" and the other is labeled "administration". At the 
second one you select "modify printer" and at the new page you can 
modify the printer settings.
