Altering /etc/network/interfaces stops some apps from working

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 15.10 on another partition, until I altered interfaces it 
worked, but as soon as I changed it - even to the new naming system - it stopped working. 
Firefox and Choqok continuted to work.
