Password required to mount External Drives, Thumb Drives & SD Chips after upgrading to Kubuntu 14.10

As was suggested, this looks like a permission issue. Have you tried "sudo
chown -R <username>:<username> /path/to/drive" without quotes and replacing
the two <username> instances with your username and /path/to/drive with the
path (under the / directory) to the drive? That'll put your user as the
owner of the drive and its contents.
