Seemingly no dual monitor possible together with Kubuntu Trusty.

Hello Everybody,

in general I am happy with Kubuntu 14.04, which seemingly contains various major
improvements and bug fixes. So far, one minor issue has come up. In a few previous
editions of Kubuntu, it has been possible to in a kind of dual monitor mode.
However, when plugging in the external monitor in Kubuntu 14.04, the very bottom
part of the screen in any application vanished so to say under the panel. Starting or
restarting the system with the external monitor already plugged was useful until
and including Saucy - however, it does not make any difference in Trusty - even not
when fiddling a bit with screen resolutions and frequencies via SYSTEM SETTINGS >
hardware > display configuration; the only 'work around' I have found so far, is UN-
checking there the so-called LVDS-monitor, which is the monitor from the laptop or
netbook - in my case now an 'Asus Eee PC Flare Series'. By doing so, I do manage to
get the right screen settings in the big monitor. However, I would appreciate to get
back a kind of dual monitor possibility. When working at home or one the road, one
screen is enough. But especially when working with a beamer for a presentation,
this dual monitor mode is of vital importance.

PS. Though I work on two 'Eee PC' netbooks, I prefer to work with the 'desktop
environment'.

Respectfully Yours,

Bas G. Roufs.
