Was the 11.04 on sda6 that was upgraded to 12.04 initially made by some form
of cloning from sda5? If so, grub needed to be installed to sda6 somewhere
along the way, may not have been, and if so, what is there now is pointing to
sda5, and finding 2.6.38 on and loading from sda5, not sda6.
