kmail in 12.04.3 LTS won't start

Which is no better than the 1.13.5 I am using ATM.  Which apparently uses 
akonadi/nepomuck, along with libsuprano and virtuoso-t, except I see log 
messages that at least on of them has been segfaulting at startx time for 
months if not years.
