[14.04] High/disruptive disk usage after dist-upgrade today

That's a bit strange. a) KDM should be replaced by lightdm. b) What's 
init 3 good for?

Anyway - what does "top -i" show as processes with high CPU usage? Maybe 
the desktop search is indexing your entire disk?
