TV Box?

Are there any TV Boxes out there that will work with
kubuntu, or even just Linux in general? I'm refering to
the ones that will take a signal, say from a VCR, and
send it to the computer as a recordable file. The ones
I'm seeing usually seem to do it over the USB cable.
Unfortunately, if they say anything at all about an OS,
its that they'll work with windows.
