Ubuntu 13.10 no internet

I am not sure about this card but does it (did she) use restricted 
drivers or not? I once found that BOTH the proprietary and open source 
driver for my card tried to load after an upgrade - had to blacklist the 
free drivers as then I preferred the proprietary drivers
