Cannot use disk after format

Is it mounted as root and therefore not writeable as a normal user?

Good evening. 

I connected a new 1 TB disk to my 12.04.02 installation. The disk was ntfs formatted, so I used Partition manager to format it as ext4 (primary on sdb1). Now I see the disk in dolphin (with one lost+found directory in it), but cannot use it. What can be the issue? Thanks.
