Hi Bas,
Well all I meant was that after reformatting the external drive (from NTFS to ext4) using Gparted, I rebooted the workstation using the current OS (i.e. kubuntu v 11.10) as normal (not from external drive). The external drive was not detected even after reformatting.
I don't think you are suggesting that I reformat once again.
