I am one of those people that regularly encounters the bug where the
Kubuntu installer crashes when manually partitioning. I know it does not
happen on Ubuntu, just on Kubuntu. And it happens on all downstream
derivatives, such as Mint with KDE. I just checked and it says "Won't fix",
even the the bug has "High" importance. What I am not sure about is
whether this means it won't be fixed on older versions only, or if it means
"If you want to partition find another distro to use." Can anyone explain
this?

Thank you,

Note that the various sections at the top of the report have different
statuses - the incomplete status is for 12.04, the wontfix is for Quantal, as
the info in the comments seems to indicate that there are no bug reports
on this for 12.10. It might be prudent to file a bug on this for the specific
version of Kubuntu if it is not the 12.04 that is listed in the report.

I know it isn't ideal, but one could go straight to the desktop and use the
partition tool in System settings, then run the installer

But it does boil down to a bug that is sporadic and not reproducible for the
volunteers to be able to pinpoint a cause.
